Stacking the Shelves is a weekly bookish meme hosted at Tynga's Reviews

Yoh, Hao* there! It's been 3 months since I last participated in this meme. I received tons of ebooks for review and for blog tours but only a few print copies. Hopefully I'll get to buy some newly released once school is over.

*If you get the reference, I love you. If you don't I still love you. :-*

Borrowed:
Heaven, vol. 1 by Shizuru Seino
Lights Out, vol. 1 by Myung-Jin Lee
Pick of the Litter, vol. 1 by Yuriko Suda
Peppermint, vol. 1 by Eun-Jin Seo
Alichino, vol. 1 by Kouyu Shurei

Thanks Anne for lending me these manga! It's a pain in the butt to search for manga here in the Philippines as our local bookstores have very limited titles of them but it will be even more difficult to get the sequels of these, ugh!

Bought:
Vampire Academy, vol. 1 by Richelle Mead
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
Balthazar by Caludia Gray
Chime by Franny Billingsley

Shaman King, vol. 19 by Hiroyuki Takei (Review)
Shaman King, vol. 20 by Hiroyuki Takei (Review)

I recently got addicted to this series again. I already have a copy of vol. 19 but I had to buy one for Anne because despite all the bullyings, she's been such an awesome "ate" to me and also because she's the only one who understands my love for this manga. She's my rival in the title of the most obsessed fangirl of Mankin, lol. :D

Gayle Forman signing event:
If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Holiday #Readathon is hosted by WhoRuBlog

This is the 4th year of the Holiday Readathon and it's my first time to participate! Registrations are open until Dec 8th and you can win some prizes by joining the mini-challenges. Just click the link below the the Readathon image to read about the mechanics!

So my status so far. I chose to read some of the books featured on this week's Stacking the Shelves. Here they are:

Mitosis by Brandon Sanderson
Another Little Piece of My Heart by Tracey Martin - Loved this! If you've reviewed this or planning to review, please, please, please, please post on Amazon as well! Tracey will write a scene from Jared's POV if it reaches 25 reviews on Amazon!
Brooke by Veronica Rossi
The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik - I'm almost done with this! And if I finish it before the readathon ends, I'm going to add Into the Still Blue to the list!

I am quite the slow reader so I chose two novellas for this so I'm pretty proud of myself for almost finishing all of these before the last day of the readathon. Also I'm following EST and not PHT since I only learned about this on the afternoon of Dec. 6th.

Happy reading guys!

So. National Book Store's warehouse sale. Can you believe that these books cost 630PHP (15 USD)?

Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
Ballad by Maggie Stiefvater
Teeth (Anthology) by various authors
Supernaturally by Kiersten White
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg
Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan

There were tons of good titles available but most are sequels without the series starters on sight. I refrained from buying more because my budget was oh-so limited - just 1000PHP (24 USD) - due to the recent events here in the Philippines and I only bought the titles I'm sure I'm going to read. But I had $9 more to spend so I asked a friend to buy me some since I went there on Sunday and I couldn't go back on Monday or Tuesday because of school. Will post the other books once I get them from her.

Stacking the Shelves (16) + Authors for the Philippines

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly bookish memes hosted at Tynga's Reviews.

So very excited for these two titles. They both sound right up my alley and I just love those covers! But why are they both facing that way?

Witch Finder by Ruth Warburton (Expected Pub: Jan 2nd 2014 by Hodder Children's Books)
My Name is Rapunzel by K.C. Hilton (Expected Pub: Dec 1st 2013)

Thanks to NetGalley, K.C. Hilton and Chyna over at Lite-Rate-Ture for hosting the My Name is Rapunzel blog tour.

National Book Store's warehouse sale is still ongoing with up to 80% discount on books. I've seen some titles on sale and I can't even begin to tell you how super excited I am for tomorrow. A friend of mine hauled 7 books (4 hardcovers and 3 paperbacks) for $16! I got 4 hardcovers for under $8 last year and I was really hoping to go all out on shopping this year.

However, in the light of the current situation here in the Philippines with thousands of families affected because of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), my sister and I decided to donate part of our savings to Red Cross Philippines instead. We just left some so we can still buy a few books. We're going to the House of Representatives tomorrow also to lend our hand in the repacking of relief goods. There are thousands of boxes of canned goods, noodles and other goods stashed in the HoR but they cannot be sent to the typhoon victims yet because they lack manpower for repacking. To the people in the Philippines, I hope those of you who live near relief warehouses would also lend their hands to make the operations much faster. Even if you've already donated, please consider volunteering as well. No matter how many goods or how much money you donate, those will not reach the victims if we lack people to do the job.

On another note, these awesome bookish people are auctioning their books, swag, critiques, etc., and all proceeds will go to Red Cross for the victims of the typhoon. You can bid for your favorite items here.

As well, I would like to thank everyone of you who helped my people. Even if my area was spared from the typhoon, the amount of love we receive from you is still so overwhelming. You are the best foreigners in the world!

On another news, National Book Store is going to have their annual warehouse sale at Quezon City, yay! I didn't get to haul that many books last year, just 4 hardcovers (for less than $8!!) but I'm planning to go all out this year. See you there!

Stacking the Shelves (8) + MIBF IS COMINGGG!!!

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Tynga @ Tynga's Reviews

I haven't gone back to any of the National Bookstore branches to haul more books, but I'm deadset on going back next week since the cut price sale ends on September 10th. That said, I didn't get any physical books this week but I still got a rather awesome ebook haul!

From Edelweiss:

[ARC] The Shadow Prince (Into the Dark #1) by Bree Despain
[ARC]  White Space (Dark Passages #1) by Ilsa J. Bick

Free from Walker Books:

Chaos Walking trilogy short stories by Patrick Ness
Snowscape (#3.5)

After spoiling myself for jumping to the last few pages of Monsters of Men, I've put off from reading it because that ending is too emotional. I just didn't want that to be the end of the series so I decided to pretend that the third book didn't exist. It's only this week that I found out that there's a novella that's set after MoM and I read some spoilers that *bleep* is *bleep* and ohmy ok I shall read Monsters of Men from the beginning till end.

If you want to receive the Chaos Walking short stories for free, just fill up this FORM and you'll receive an email containing the three short stories!

[CHAPTER SAMPLER] Steelheart (The Reckoners #1) by Brandon Sanderson - *Cue fangirl screams* OHHMYGAWD! I admit, among all the September releases, this is the one I am anticipating the most. I read this chapter sampler and ohmy! *faints* it IS ah-mazing! I just want to devour the rest of the chapters but September 24th. :(

If you want to read the prologue + first five chapters of Steelheart for free, just click the image to download from its Amazon page. You will not be disappointed!

Thanks to Edelweiss and Egmont, Walker Books, and Delacorte and Amazon!

On a different (but still bookish) note, Filipino dudes and dudettes, the MIBF is coming!!! *dances around*

I know! September is officially my most favorite month. National Bookstore has an annual sale during September and then after there's MIBF. No wonder September is considered the start of the Christmas month here in the Philippines, lol.

If you're wondering about how to get the tickets, you can go to any Fullybooked branches and ask the customer service for one or you can just download and print this image to serve as your free entrance ticket. This is going to be my first time to go to MIBF so if you know other ways to get free tix, please let me know! (although from what I've heard the tix range from 15php-20php only?)

Another thing to be excited about in this year's MIBF besides the discounted books are the guest authors - local and international alike. I don't have the full list but I heard Ramon Bautista will be there too. Also,

Those three. NBS is an angel. I really hope I get to go on September 15th for this book signing event. There have been several international authors visiting the Philippines like Lauren Kate, Lauren Oliver, Kiera Cass, Tahereh Mafi (w/ Ranson Riggs) this past few months but I've never attended any of them so, fingers crossed!

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga @ Tynga's Reviews

A local bookstore is having a sale this week until next week. I only got to visit one branch but their selection of bargained books is quite small so I only got to haul three books but I'm planning to raid the other branches next week to look for more.

The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

I only got one book to stack on my virtual shelf this week and it's for a blog tour!! *dances around and groans at the same time* Last week, I found out I signed up to a tad too many blog tours than my "responsible" self could probably handle, buuuuut this one is different...special. The author of this book is Filipino and the cover...look at it! JUST LOOK! It is GORGEOUS!

Reaping Me Softly by Kate Evangelista
(Expected release date is 30th Oct 2012)
Thanks AToMR!

I dare you to say no to this book. I double dare you!
