Teaser Tuesdays (14): Ephemeral

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read.
  • Open to a random page.
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
  • Be careful not to include spoilers! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away!) You don't want to ruin the book for the others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they liked your teasers.
My Teaser is from Addison Moore's Ephemeral

I know for a fact I died on July 13th, the day before my cheating boyfriend’s seventeenth birthday. According to this I.D., two calendar months have dissolved without my knowledge. Here I am—same body, different name.

All I really want to know is what the hell is going on.

Don't forget that Oct. 11th is my stop in the Ephemeral blog tour! I actually just finished this and I enjoyed it lots. :)

My Teaser is from Stacey Jay's The Locket

The Locket

“Do you see that? The horses and . . .”
“And the men in togas playing ‘Amazed’ by Lone Star on fiddles to a carriage full of people dressed like they’re headed to a Greek orgy?” His eyes flicked over my shoulder and then back to mine. “Yeah, I see that.”

I have a very strong feeling that this is going to be one of my favorite reads of 2011. So good!

My Teaser is from an ARC of Cara Lynn Shultz'z Spellbound
(This quote is from an ARC copy and is subject to change)

Spellbound (Harlequin Teen)

“Hey, Brendan?” I asked hesitantly. My voice sounded thin and insecure, and I cringed. He paused in his chair and leaned back, turning his left ear in my direction but he didn’t look at me. “I have your hoodie. It’s in my locker. I would have brought it to class but it didn’t fit in my bag. So it’s in my locker. So, yeah. Just um, let me know what you want me to do with that, ’cause it’s in my locker.” Shut up, shut up, shut up.

Um, where did she say she put his hoodie? Haha! I'm almost halfway done with this and I'm really, really enjoying it thus far.

My Teaser is from Linda Kage's The Stillburrow Crush

The Stillburrow Crush

“That’s it,” I said, and stuck my nose in the air. “I don’t have a crush on you anymore, Luke Carter.” And for emphasis I sniffed out a little “Humph.”

His eyebrows must have shot up on that one because he sounded startled when he said, “You have a crush on me?”

Believe me when I say that you MUST read this book. I've just finished this and oh, it was so freaking good! I am so in love with the characters!

Teaser Tuesdays (10): Solid

My teaser is from Shelley Workinger's Solid.

Solid

Undeterred, Jack cracked, “Did you think you just brought me along for my good looks?” Because that would be a bad reason? I wondered.

I'm halfway through this book. So far so good!

Teaser Tuesdays (9): The Strange Case of Finley Jayne

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they liked your teasers.
My teaser is from Kady Cross's The Strange Case of Finley Jayne. (Free from Harlequin Teen eBooks)

Please, don't let him be naked, she prayed. She might have to gouge out her own eyes if Lord Vincent was prancing about in his flesh pajamas on the other side of the door.

And another one!

Lord Vincent looked at her like she was that monster.
So Finley did what so many rich  girls did when confronted in situation they did not want to face. She rolled her eyes back into her head and pretended to faint.

I have finished this e-novella last week, actually (review here). But I just can't resist Finley! She's such a hilarious character. I'm almost finished with The Girl in the Steel Corset and I'm loving it more than this!. Be sure to come back in the coming days too as I'm cooking up an ARC giveaway of TGitSC. :)

My teaser is from Tabitha Suzuma's Forbidden (ARC from S&S Galley Grab)

Forbidden

He treads on my toes a few times, but as we’re both barefoot it just makes us laugh. After a while I start to improvise. Lochan twirls me around and nearly sending me into the wall. Finishing this highly amusing, he tries to do it again and again.

This book is highly depressing. But SO darn good!

Teaser Tuesdays (7): Queen of the Dead

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read.

My Teaser is from Stacey Kade's Queen of the Dead (ARC from NetGalley)

She threw up her hands. “How should I know? Ask your new girlfriend.”

I shook my head. “This is crazy. You think this is some kind of elaborate scheme? To accomplish what?”

I frowned at her. “She’s not my-”

Finished this book yesterday. And it was plain awesome!

  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they liked your teasers.
My first teaser is from Tara Maya's The Unfinished Song: Initiate

The Unfinished Song: Initiate
The dancers flipped and leaped and twirled in the air. They flew through the moves, they swayed, they swam, they fought, they flung themselves around the circle in steps so convoluted she couldn’t even catch the movement clearly, never mind copy it.

I received this e-book for review from the author and it is surprisingly very, very good! :)

My second teaser is from Michelle Dalton's Sixteenth Summer (ARC from S&S Galley Grab)

Sixteenth Summer

An intake of breath. I found myself closing my eyes and wishing that we could all just remain suspended in this moment of happiness and satisfaction; in this moment when all was perfect.

This is just so cute. I've only ever fallen in like/lust with fictional characters so I don't know what it feels like to really be in love, but reading this from the perspective of a teenager like me, aw it feels like I know exactly how it feels like!

Teaser Tuesdays (5): Where She Went

My Teaser:

"So I had the roadies throw her out. She left screaming insults about me, my sexual prowess, my ego.

“Wilde Man, indeed,” Liz said, raising an eyebrow."

- Where She Went, Gayle Forman

I'm still banned from buying books, so my awesome tutor lent me her copy. She is so awesome. :)

Teaser:

The False Princess
“Hello?” I called more loudly. “Please, anyone - I'm trapped! Someone, please, help me!”

The False Princess, Eilis O'Neal

Thanks a lot to A Backwards Story for helping me choose what to read next! I am really enjoying this book so far.

Teaser Tuesdays (3): Freefall

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read.
  • Open to a random page.
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.

  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they liked your teasers.
Teaser:

Freefall"We sat in a silence that can only be described as uncomfortable. Rosetta chewed her bottom lip and watched the couch cushion between us like she was worried it was going to come to life and attack her. I flipped the magazine to a random page to keep up with my fake reading." - Freefall, Mindi Scott

This book is so good! It's different from the other contemporary books I've read because the narrator is a boy. I love, love, love the protagonist. He seems so real and his voice is very refreshing.

My Teaser:

The Iron WitchAliette's slitted eyes grew even more narrow. If she'd possessed lips, Donna suspected they would be curled into an expression of scorn right about now. "You are in no position to demand anything, halfling."

- The Iron Witch, Karen Mahoney
