Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1)
by Sarah J. Maas
Hardcover, 416 pages
Expected publication: August 7th 2012 by Bloomsbury USA Children's

Blurb:

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)

This book hasn't even hit the shelves yet and already, it's taking the YA blogging community by a storm. Of course all blogs I follow are also raving about it. Which is just sad. I want to read ASAP but Bloomsbury wouldn't accept my request. :(

  1. Loved this one! The storyline, the protagonist, the romance - all awesome. And as for NetGalley: I'm not really sure if it works this way or not - but could you try requesting again through Bloomsbury USA if you first requested through Bloomsbury UK (or vice versa) and see if that makes a difference?

    1. Hi Aylee! I tried that one already but it didn't work. They rejected the second request not even one hour after I requested it. Then I requested both versions again but they neither accepted nor rejected them. I think it has something to do with my blog not being updated regularly. Also, I live outside US. :(

  5. RIGHT?? This is one of those books that makes me feel like everyone else has read it already but me, even though it hasn't even been released yet LOL :') It's too bad you didn't get accepted (although I have no idea why because YOUR BLOG IS SO AWESOME [look at that, Bloomsbury people!!]), but on the bright side, there are only a few more weeks until its release, right? Then we can gush about it together! :)

Amazing pick for your WOW, Chel! Hopefully it's as amazing as everyone says <3

  6. Awwww I'm sorry Bloomsbury didn't accept your request for this one Chel! I always feel like I kicked puppy when I get denied on NetGalley - but it happens to all of us so at least you're not alone:) Hope this one is everything you want it to be. I think there are a bunch of prequel shorts available now to tied you over if you're interested!

  9. I'm sorry they keep denying your request! I'm kind of surprised I got approved for it, since all the books I've gotten from them before were ones I didn't really like, but Throne of Glass really was cool. Whether you can get approved before the galley is archived or if you get a copy once it's released, I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for stopping by my WoW post too!

  11. I can't wait for this one either, Chel! I love it when heroines can kick butt. Bloomsbury US only approves blogs from the US which is such a bummer because this one is on Netgalley :( Guess I'll have to wait for the release date to read this one too.
